Your subscription entitles you to 90 days worth of Blueprints and Pixie Dust. This begins on the day you activate your subscription. You do not have access to Blueprints or Pixie Dust that were posted during the time you were not a subscriber. The Blueprint & Pixie Dust that was posted up to 6 days before you activate will be available, to ensure that you have access to the current content. However anything posted prior to that date is only available to those who were subscribers at that time.

All previously posted videos, tips, FAQ, blogs, and challenges are accessible to all subscribers.

About pixels2Pages

A 90-day subscription entitles you to 90 days of new material presented (something is added every single day) as well as access to whatever is available to you on the site during that 90 days.

As long as you are a subscriber, you will be able to view all of the videos except for the occasional limited edition video tidbit.  You will find Challenges (new since October 1) in the Challenge Gallery.  You will not have access to Blueprints and Pixie Dust that were posted before your subscription begins or are posted after it ends.  Be sure to download the Blueprints and Pixie Dust promptly, as those are time-sensitive offerings!

To maximize your subscription, we suggest that you watch the Welcome Video and read the information below it, and then make every effort to get to the site at least once or twice a week (if not every day!) By scrolling down on the Home page of the website, you’ll see a ‘What’s New” list.  These are the most recent additions to the website (excluding our Behind the Globe blog posts) and you can click on the links to go directly to them.  You can also click on a scrolling banner (top of the Home page) to go directly to what’s being advertised on the banner.  If you can make a habit of reading our every-other-day blog and visiting our Facebook page on a regular basis, you should be in good shape!

Your subscription starts from the day you activate it. There is new material every day, and you will get your full 90 days’ worth no matter when you subscribe. You can only download Blueprints and Pixie Dust that are released while you are a subscriber, so if you delay subscribing you will not have access to anything released in the meantime.

As a subscriber, you will have access to a weekly blueprint, including a double page blueprint once a month. These are released on Wednesdays. The only blueprints you will have access to are the ones released during the 90 days of your subscription.

No blueprints released prior to our re-launch on October 1 2011 are currently available. We will be releasing five new blueprints every month to subscribers and one a month to non-subscribers. Blueprints are posted every Wednesday.

While you are a current subscriber you have access to every blueprint released during your 90 day subscription period. You do not have access to any blueprints that were released prior to the time you activated your subscription.  Be sure to download your blueprints in a timely manner and to back them up – pixels2Pages is not able to replace blueprints not downloaded or lost due to computer crashes or user carelessness.

At this stage we have no plans to offer SBCStudio training at pixels2Pages. We are a training site for the PC programs – Memory Manager and Storybook Creator.   None of us have any expertise or even experience using sbcStudio, so we would not be a good resource for that at all!  So, the only thing we could offer an sbcStudio user is inspiration.  We do not recommend that sbcStudio users purchase a subscription to pixels2Pages.

We suggest that you join our Facebook page and visit the Nonsubscriber section of our site, as you may find inspiration and support there.  We have a vibrant community of digital scrapbookers who are full of creativity!

We have been asked to refer all inquiries about subscription availability in Australia to the Creative Memories AU Home Office. At this time Creative Memories Australasia have made a unilateral business decision not to contract with pixels2Pages.

In the meantime, please continue to visit the Free Trial section of pixels2Pages.net – we have a weekly challenge, a monthly Blueprint, a monthly tidbit, our Going Global Mango Portfolio and more goodies there for you. In addition, our Facebook community remains open and active and waiting for your pages! We appreciate your support very much.

Blueprints

Click to watch this short video of step-by-step instructions:

For subscribers there are written instructions in the tips section – click HERE to access it.

All of our Blueprints since 1 October 2011 are now named with the following ‘system’. This naming system means that all your blueprints can be stored in a folder and will automatically be sorted by page size and the number of photo openings.

For example:
p2P_12_7_SpecialLunchJF

  • p2P for pixels2pages, of course.
  • 12 = Page size (12 for 12×12 pages, 11 for 11×8.5 pages)
  • 7 = The number of photo openings
  • Special Lunch = The Name we have given the blueprint
  • JF = the Blueprint designer, in this case, Justine Forrest

p2P_12_1_R_MumsTaxiJG

  • For the double page blueprints, there is one extra R or L, to indicate left or right hand page

pixels2Pages Videos

Yes, there certainly is. At the very bottom right of the video frame there is a little rectangular icon. Click that to go to full screen view. To go back to the normal view, hit the ESC (escape) key, or click the same icon again. The control bar of the videos will disappear while you are watching for unimpeded viewing.  Just move the mouse across the screen for access to the video controls.

All videos added to our website from October 1, 2011 can be watched on iPads, iPhones and other mp4 players. All our older videos in the Archives section can only be played on devices that support Flash Player.

We have listened to your feedback, and we have decided that we will keep all videos on the site indefinitely! So, no worries about not being able to refer back to a tidbit, workshop, Start2Finish, or Portfolio that you may have seen a few months ago. As long as you are an ACTIVE subscriber, you’ll have access to these videos.

There may be occasional exceptions – limited edition videos that are posted and labeled as such, and videos that become dated or obsolete over time. We will let you know in advance if a video is to be removed.

Challenges will be staying around for subscribers, too, so that you can refer back to them as well.

We provide written instructions for our Portfolio videos only.

Most of our other videos will remain on the site for active subscribers to review at any time. Our Video Tidbits, Workshop videos, and Start2Finish videos do not include handouts, but we invite you to feel free to take notes as you watch.  Remember that you can pause and play as you watch.

Often, techniques shown in these videos have been covered in other videos, on Good2Know handouts, in Challenges, in Tips, or in FAQ’s.  We have no plan to include handouts with all of the videos.

Having trouble viewing our videos? Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Turn off all extra programs running, including Skype and IM programs (these programs can take up some of your bandwidth, which can cause video streaming issues)
  2. If the video keeps stopping, pause the video and let it fully load before trying to watch it.
  3. If you are watching a webinar or video tidbit and the video stops running at the same point each time, you are likely experiencing a timing out issue. The best solution we have found is to move your mouse frequently (or adjust the power settings on your computer). Sometimes your computer power settings will stop activity if it doesn’t detect movement. Give this a try as it is the most common fix for our viewers.
  4. If you are experiencing repeated “delays” in the video playing, then it is likely a bandwidth issue. Check that you are getting a good signal from your internet network or wireless router. These videos are streaming from our website to your computer, so they need a good connection to run smoothly.
  5. If you haven’t restarted your computer in forever like I often do, now would be a good time (and then quit out of Skype again since it will auto load on restart). By restarting, you will clear your clipboard of extra stuff that inevitably builds up when working with digital programs- and slows down your machine.
  6. How much RAM you have on your computer and the processor speed can also affect your viewing capabilities.

Hopefully these tips will resolve any the problems you may experience.

StoryBook

There are several ways to insert a page in Storybook Creator 4.

a. From the Home ribbon > select Add page > Add a blank page (This will insert a blank page at the end of your project.)

b. Click on the down arrow next to a page in your project and select Add a blank page. (This will insert a blank page before the page you selected.)

c. Right Click anywhere in the Pages panel and insert a blank page. (This will insert a blank page at the end of your project.)

d. Right Click or select the down arrow next to a blank page already in your project and select, Duplicate this page.

Enjoy adding more pages to your projects!

Insert a blank page

Yes, it can.
Even though the calendar image is locked, it can be deleted.

  1. Select the calendar portion from the Elements panel.
  2. Hit the Delete key on your keyboard.
  3. There you go, the image has gone! Do you want it back? Click undo real quick.

Have you started a project and then weren’t sure what size it was? Then here’s how to find out.

1. Open your project in Storybook Creator 4.

2. Go to File > Properties and select the Project tab.

3. Your project type will be revealed.

StoryBook Creator can be used on a Mac. You will need to partition the Mac and install Windows. This is our recommendation for Mac users:

There are a number of programs available to partition your Mac computer.

  •  VM Fusion, which retails for about $50
  •  Parallels  which is about $80.
  •  Boot Camp, which is software included with Mac OS X Lion so you can run compatible versions of Microsoft Windows on an Intel-based Mac. (The drawback of Bootcamp is that you have to close down Mac to run Windows and vice versa.)

In addition to installing one of these partitioning programs, the user will need to have a legal copy of a Windows operating system (Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7) that can be installed on the new partition.  Some people may have a copy of one of those that they can move from another computer but many will need to purchase that program as well.

Windows 7 is currently $120 on the Microsoft website.

Here are some tips

  • Make sure you are are running the most recent Mac operating system (Lion)
  • You will need MORE memory available than what is suggested (as you know SBC and MM take up huge amounts of memory)
  • Get someone knowledgable to help them partition your machine
  • Make sure you allocate plenty of memory to the Windows partition.

You don’t need to add your fonts to StoryBook Creator. The program will automatically recognise any TrueType fonts that are installed on your computer. You will need to restart Storybook Creator before the fonts will show in the program font list.

To download fonts: Click on the “Download” button, save the zip somewhere on your hard disk, go to the place where it is saved, double-click on the zip to open it, then either click on “Extract all files” or drag and drop the files elsewhere from the zip window (hold down the CTRL key to select several files at once)

To install fonts under Windows 7 or Vista, simply select the font, right-click and choose Install

To install fonts under Windows XP, put the font files into C:\Windows\Fonts.

No, there is no way to do that in StoryBook Creator. You can create a personal art kit and will need to import each letter as a png file.

There is a limit to how large a font size you can use in a text path. It depends on the font, and on how curved your path is. So you might need to make your font a little smaller to get rid of the flat tops. You can also change the margin, which helps a bit (Go to Format Text > Paragraph. Under the box labelled Margin you’ll see a number with a drop-down arrow. Click there to adjust the margin)

NB In SBC4 this issue seems to have been resolved.

p2P Facebook Page

There are several ways to do this, here are 3 that all work, choose whichever one you like.

Method 1
Save both pages as jpeg files. Then on a blank page in your Storybook, import both pages as photos. Position them side by side and flatten. Then save the new image as a jpeg and upload to Facebook as usual.

Method 2
Most computers have a print screen (PRT SCR) button. This enables you to take a snapshot of everything that is on your computer screen. So have your StoryBook pages open, choose View>Two Page. Hit the PRT SCR button on your keyboard. It won’t look like anything has happened, but if you open a blank StoryBook page and click Paste, the image of everything that was on your screen will paste to your page. Use the Cut & Fill Ribbon>Shapes to crop away everything except your pages. Then save the new image as a jpeg and upload to Facebook as usual.

Method 3
The Snipping tool is a handy tool that comes with most Windows computers. If you are not familiar with it, just type ‘snip’ in the Windows Search and it should appear in the start menu. Follow the directions to snip a screen shot of just your double page spread. Then save it as a jpeg and upload to Facebook as usual.

Tech Talk

Google Chrome treats downloads somewhat differently from Internet Explorer, so if you have recently switched over you may not be familiar with the process. Internet Explorer gives you the option to open or save a download file, whereas Chrome automatically saves the file to a default location.

To identify or change the default location, do the following:

  1. Click on the little wrench in the top right hand corner of the screen.
  2. Choose Options
  3. Under Options Choose “Under the Hood”
  4. Half way down the screen you will see Downloads. The default download location will be indicated - in my case this is a folder called “Downloads”. You can click ‘Change’ to choose your own loaction. Or check the box next to ‘Ask where to save each file before downloading’ to be given the option to choose a location with each download.

In SBC3, the .EXTX files contained the keyword date for each kit. In SBC4, the keywords (now called ‘tags’) are saved in the package and sbkit files themselves, so the extx files are not necessary once the packages have been updated by SBC4.

So it is OK to delete those .extx files, once you have converted to SBC4, and converted your keywords, if you wish to, from SBC3 (File > Convert Keywords)

I’m trying to apply a filter to a shape. Everytime I select the shape and click the filter button, the program freezes and I have to close it through Task Manager. Is this a common problem that you know of?

  • Shelley says:

I wonder if your shape is grouped at all? I did find this would happen to me if I tried to add a filter to a group. Try flattening first and see if that fixes it. (Try that even if it is not grouped). Let us know if that works.

  • debra4cm@nwi.net says:

This worked great! I realized that it was a shaped photo I had copied and pasted, then filled with a solid color. Once I flattened it, it worked. Thanks for your help!

  • kylephillipscm@me.com says:

Can someone remind me where my 4.0 projects are because they are not where the 3.0 ones and I need to delete several as I have been having fun playing…now it’s time to get to work.

  • Jan says:

Kyle, you can hover your mouse over the tab with the project name on it (above the elements panel and editing screen) and you can see the path for that project.

  • drb59@aol.com says:

Just want to confirm, since each 90 subcription is individual I need to save new blueprints and pixie dust, that are offered during my 90 days but I don’t have to worry about anything else because when I renew for the next 90 days I will have access to everything else. Correct?

  • Jan says:

You are correct about subscriptions, drb59! Blueprints and Pixie Dust must be downloaded during the subscription period in which they were posted. They will not be available again, even if you renew without missing a day. Everything else will remain on the site and as long as you are an active subscriber, you will have access to it.

  • digigal1970 says:

This weekend I deleted SBC 3.0 off of my computer since I am using 4.0 and LOVE IT! The only thing is now I can not get Memory Manager to transfer pictures over to do a NEW project in SBC 4.0 so I can auto populate the pictures. The error message I receive is: “StoryBook Creator is not installed” Can anyone help me get this corrected?

  • Shelley says:

Make sure you have installed the latest updates for SBC4 and Memory Manager. I believe that will fix the problem. If not, I would call CM tech support.

  • Shirlgirl_11 says:

Every time I try to use a Blueprint, it freezes up my SBC4. Anyone else having this problem? I’m dying to use the new blueprint, but I can’t seem to. :(

  • Jenny says:

Are you following the instructions from the handout? http://www.pixels2pages.net/2011/09/30/tell-me-2/downloading-blueprints-2/ Also, you might need to check that you are unzipping the file correctly.

  • Shirlgirl_11 says:

Hi Jenny – yes, I am following it, and tried both ways. I’ll try again later on, ‘cuz I LOVE my blueprints (and it’s part of why I was so excited for my subscription :) )

  • Hannah Martin says:

How to you create a two page(12×12) layout in sbc 4.0. I woukld like to see the two pages at the same time while working on them.

  • Shelley says:

Hannah, to see both sides of a double page at once, you simply click on the View Ribbon, and choose Two Page. However this will only be an option if you are in a StoryBook Project. If you are making Page Prints, that button will be missing.

  • scraphappy47 says:

Thank you for the info of uploading a page to Pixel. Y’all are the greatest!

  • Shirlgirl_11 says:

Ok ladies – I went back, reread the instructions and assured I was doing it right. Tried importing – froze up my program. :(

  • Shelley says:

It is hard to tell what is going wrong! Could you maybe email me at shelley@pixels2pages.net describing step by step exactly what you are doing. Have you had problems adding Predesigned or Click and Fill pages?

  • yami444 says:

Seems my sbc4 runs slowly. I have brand new computer, only a few months old. For an example, when I access my text fonts and i move down the list, it goes very slowly. Not easy to move around the page while designing it. Not sure if I am making myself clear.

  • Shelley says:

The font chooser does move very slowly. I think it is party because most of us are font junkies, and have a LOT of fonts. You can type the first letter of a font to go to the start of that section that helps a bit. Also have you downloaded the handout from CM about speeding up the program? There is a link to it on the Welcome page of SBC4.

  • leslieb says:

Do you know the color/print settings for CM’s digital center? I read somewhere that someone had changed the settings on their computer to the same so they’d know just what their Storybook would look like. I have one page that I’m concerned might be too dark.

  • Shelley says:

Sorry Leslie, I can’t help you there. if you are talking about the duck page that you posted, I think it is too dark. Maybe one of my American colleagues can answer this, but in Australia my experience is that the printing tends to darken the photos if anything.

  • leslieb says:

Yes, it’s the duck page. Everyone liked the photo as it was, but I do think it will be too dark. Thanks!

  • Laura@mitchellme.com says:

I am using a blueprint for the first time and I don’t understand how to edit the blueprint. I want to change the background paper. How do I do this?

  • Shelley says:

Laura, using a blueprint is much the same as a Click and Fill page. Simply select each blue element, one at a time. Click on the paper you want, and choose “Fill selected element with this paper”. If you watch Segment 3 of the Gold Portfolio “Where Do I Begin”, Mary demonstrates using a Click and Fill Page, and as I said, the method is just the same for blueprints. Here is the link http://www.pixels2pages.net/where-do-i-begin/

  • Heike says:

I have just purchased my renewal for P2P (1/21), but my current subscription does not expire until 1/25. If I activate my renewal today, does my new 90days start on the 25th, or today on the 21st?
I don’t want my subscription to lapse, but I want to be sure I get every single day…. don’t want to miss ANYTHING!

  • Jeannine says:

Great question Heike! We love that you don’t want to miss a thing!
We advise that you just wait until you log in and cannot access the subscription information. It looks as if it will expire on the evening of 1/25.
And when that happens, here is all you need to do, since you already have your new activation code at the ready!
When you are ready to re-activate, be sure that you are logged OUT from the website before following the activation instructions. You can do this from the Home page at http://www.pixels2pages.net and click on the Log In/Out button. Click on LOG OUT to the right of your name. Then proceed with the steps in your activation email just as you did the first time around! We’re thrilled to have you continue along with us. Thank you! ~Jeannine

  • chris96 says:

Is there any way that you can go into the challenge archive and print off the challenge sheets? When I go to print them the page is very narrow with huge black margins on the left and right…

  • tamibradley says:

Where can I find the instuctions for Challenge #6? I really love the effect and am dying to learn more.

  • Kerrianne says:
  • Kerrianne says:

All of the challenges and pages are posted for screen use only. We use a screen reslolution for all sample pages and the post is there to guide you. You are best to follow the instructions on the screen and add a text box to the side area of your page so you can jot down some notes to follow for yourself. That way, the notes will be right beside you when you look again at your page. Hope this helps!

If I continue with another subscription when this one expires, will I be able to see the past 90 days of info. that I was subscribed to or does the previous 90 days become unavailable?

The reason I am wondering is I have not had much time lately to really enjoy my subscription, but do love what I have learned so far.

  • Shelley says:

Elizabeth, as long as you are a subscriber you will have access to EVERYTHING on the site EXCEPT for Blueprints and Pixie Dust which must be downloaded during each 90 day subscription. All web-based content, including all videos, challenges, tips, and galleries are available at any time to all subscribers.

  • chris96 says:

when I seperate the contents that I import into sb3, for instance..the ribbon will go with the kit, then I also put it into a spot the I have named ‘ribbon’, is it taking up more computer space doing it that way and if so what is the best way to do this. I am sortive new at this, not sure how sb3 tag system works, I made my own broken down system so that I would remember where to find things…I have 5 jump drives full of digital kits…thanks

  • Shelley says:

Chris, have you watched the Blue-Green Content Manager Portfolio? I think it will answer all of your questions. Here is the link: http://www.pixels2pages.net/bluegreen-portfolio-getting-started-with-storybook-creator-4-0/ If you still have questions after that, please ask.

I accidentally made a mistake in my email address when I renewed my subscription and I didn’t recieve an activation code. My current subscription expires today. I emailed customersupport@pixels2pages.net and still haven’t recieved an activation code.

  • Jeannine says:

Hi Elizabeth. Good catch, and a common one, so no worries! Would you please send me a copy of your order confirmation email to Jeannine@pixels2pages.net? And then I should be able to pull that activation code for you and have you up and running quickly. Thanks for letting us know! ~Jeannine

  • Tammyp says:

Can I delete the zipped folders for the fonts

  • Shelley says:

Yes. Once you have installed fonts you can delete the zipped folders, and I would recommend you do, to save space on your hard drive.

  • sallycm says:

Is there someplace that gives good instructions to upgrade SB from 3.0 to 4.0? My customer lives a distance from me so I don’t have the option to go there to help her. Either written or video would be great.

  • Shelley says:

Sally, there is a lot of information in the tips section about new features in SBC4. This one in particular is a good place to start – http://www.pixels2pages.net/2011/10/10/tell-me-2/where-did-it-go/ . The actual upgrade process is fairly straightforward, your customer should be able to follow the on screen instructions.
