A little too cold!

After our crazy cold weather the week before the Super Bowl I’ve decided my “northern” friends are tougher than I am.  There was way to much ice and snow for me.  School was canceled 4 days in a row. Even though that no longer makes me crazy (my daughter is easy at home) it was just the idea we couldn’t get out that made us stir crazy. Cold to me is in the 40’s F and that week we were in the “teens”. You see I don’t like coats.  I don’t like bundling  up. The favorite feature in my truck is not the stereo or moon roof it’s the heated seats!  I like short sleeves and flip flops. This is the farthest north I’ve ever lived and have no intention of going any farther. In fact the Florida Keys are sounding fantastic right about now.

A Little Bit of Everything…

I know a lot of people that define themselves by what kind of scrapbooking they do, I know I used to be one of them.  I was a decorative scrapbooker and pages took me hours to complete.  That was OK because at that time in my life in the mid 90’s that is what I needed. It was my brief monthly reprieve from raising 4 small children. It was how I “unwound”.

Now that I’ve been around a while as a seasoned scrapper I prefer not to label myself.  Yes, I love digital and it is now the primary focus of my memory keeping but I also had many traditional pictures not yet in albums.  I used expandable Picfolios to do mine and my husbands growing up years thru our college years.  I am using traditional albums still for my kids school years and up to a couple months ago … Read More

Time Travel

I love science fiction movies.  I loved Star Trek and the ability they had to “transport” from place to place. I also  loved “Back to The Future” and the funny things Marty, the main character, encountered when he went back in time.  I thought that might really be an experience to be the “fly on the wall” and watch the past from another viewpoint.

Today I did just that. I looked back on the past from the view of an almost empty nester, not the view of a very tired mom of 4 young active children. My baby is now a senior in high school.  I’ve been given the task of picking pictures for her senior ad in the yearbook.  They have to reflect Becca for the last 12 years. She’s one of the yearbook editors for an award winning yearbook so it’s extra important. How do I choose?  First … Read More

Unexpected…..

It’s been quite a week in our home.  Actually it’s been quite a year.  Birth of our first grandson, Danny, after getting scared with pre-eclampsia with our daughter. A  high school and college graduation… add onto that college visits for the baby of the family, speaking at Creative Memories National Convention, the launch of pixels2Pages..WHEW!

This week was just as busy as the rest but totally caught me off guard…emotionally.  Last Saturday, the baby of our family, Becca, was to paint her senior parking space at the high school. She went to the school with friends about 4 am to get a “good” place in line.  At 7am her dad and I showed up. He was there to blow the parking space off so it was dirt free and ready for painting and me to paint.  We looked at Becca’s design and she and I began painting away.  About 8 … Read More
