Q. Why can’t I see the two page spread option?

To see the two-page spread option in Artisan, you need to be in a photo book, not page prints. We recommend creating your project as a book, even if you plan to order your pages as page prints, to take advantage of the new live two page spreads.

Q. Where is the elements panel? or the operations panel?

The elements panel is on the left hand side as it was in Artisan 4. However, it is possible to minimise it to increase the work space. If yours has been minimised, you’ll find a little triangle at the top of where the elements panel usually is. Click that & the elements panel will reappear.  The same function is available on the operations panel on the right side of the screen.

Q. Can I run Artisan 5 on a 32-bit computer?

Artisan requires a 64-bit computer to run. The vast majority of users will already have a 64-bit computer.

If you have a 32-bit computer you can continue to use Artisan 4. Artisan 4 will continue to be available to purchase.

Q. I don’t have the Quick Access Toolbar I keep hearing about?

If you are running Artisan 5 in Basic Mode, you won’t be able to see the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), and a number of tools and buttons will not be available to you.

We recommend using Advanced mode even if you are a beginner.

To switch between Basic and Advanced mode look for the toggle in the top right corner of the screen.

If you are running Artisan 4 or StoryBook Creator 4 on your computer, Artisan 5 will give you the option of transferring your digital art kits, tags, categories and more when you are installing. If you skip this step, or it doesn’t appear, you can run it manually.

1. Go to C:\Program Files\Forever\Artisan 5

2. Find a file called MigrationAssistant.exe. Double-click this file to run the Migration Assistant.

Q. How do I get photos from Historian to Artisan 5?

A. Until there’s an update for Historian, it doesn’t know Artisan 5 exists. However, if you choose  to share to Artisan 4 (or SBC4, if that’s what you have), and then choose to add to an open project, Historian will recognize your Artisan 5 projects. You do need to have your project open for this to work.

Q. Can I have Artisan 4 and Artisan 5 on my computer at the same time?

A. Yes you can. Artisan 4 and 5 are totally separate programs and can be run simultaneously. We recommend keeping Artisan 4 and using it to complete current projects until you are totally comfortable with Artisan 5.

Posted in: About Artisan 5

Q. Why didn’t Artisan also copy my projects across?

A. At the bottom of the Welcome Screen in Artisan 4 and 5, you can see icons representing your most recent projects. Your projects are not stored inside Artian, but are in Windows folders on your computer. The welcome screen icons are just links, and are not the projects themselves.

When you first open Artisan 5, because it is a new program, and you haven’t opened any projects in that program, so there won’t be any icons there. Your projects are still safely tucked away in the same location as they were before.

Remember that once you open a project in Artisan 5, it will not be able to be opened in Artisan 4, so we suggest you don’t bring across a project you are in the middle of until you feel comfortable with Artisan 5.

Q. Why is there a yellow warning triangle on so many of my text boxes?

A. One of the new features in Artisan 5 is a warning which shows if you have spelling errors in your text. These might be actual errors, or names and foreign words that are not listed in the dictionary. The warning will show you what the problem is, if you hover over the yellow triangle. To get rid of a spelling warning, you can correct the spelling, add the word to your user dictionary, or turn off  or modify the warnings if you really want to. Regardless of what you do, the warnings are there to help you, and they DO NOT print on your pages.

Q. Help! I have lost a whole heap of pages after duplicating my project!

NOTE: THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU ARE RUNNING THE MOST RECENT VERSION OF ARTISAN. YOU WILL FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THE LATEST VERSION HERE.
There have been a few posts recently about people losing pages when creating duplicate projects. The problem is that when you use ‘File > Save As’ the projects are still linked, so if you delete the pages from one project, they appear to be deleted from the copy as well.
Our advice is not to use the ‘Save As’ option until this issue is resolved. Meanwhile, your options are either:
1. Create a new blank project with a different name and import the pages you want from the original project into the new project.
OR
2. Open Windows Explorer (File Explorer), copy the entire project folder and paste it in a new location with a different name.
If you have already “lost” some pages, you should be able to retrieve them. The pages are not actually deleted from the original project, but the link to those pages doesn’t work. So you can open your original project and re-import those pages.

Q. Can I open existing SBC projects in Artisan?

A. Yes. Artisan will open your existing StoryBook and Page Print projects, including those you have not finished.  There are a small number of project types that are not supported by Artisan, because they cannot be printed at the Panstoria Print Shop. Those projects should be completed in SBC as they will not transfer.

A. Yes, you certainly can. They will work in exactly the same way as they did in StoryBook Creator.

Q. Do I need to update StoryBook Creator before installing Artisan?

A. No. You can start using Artisan straight away. It doesn’t matter which version of SBC you have installed.

Q. Can I delete SBC once Artisan is up and running?

A. Once Artisan is working you may remove SBC, but you do not have to.  However, there is really no need to keep SBC once Artisan is installed. Artisan contains ALL the features of SBC and lots more. You will not lose any projects or art kits by uninstalling. You are removing the programs, not your data.

NOTE: If you are still waiting on delivery of a project that you have ordered from Creative Memories, I recommend that you don’t uninstall SBC until that project has been delivered, just in case there are any printing issues to be resolved.

One other caveat: If you have a project type that was created in SBC but is not available in Artisan, you may want to save it in a form that can be accessed by Artisan OR keep SBC on your computer.

For the benefit of our members, click HERE for full instructions on uninstalling programs.

Q. Can I run Artisan and StoryBook Creator simultaneously on the same computer?

A. Yes, you can. You can’t open the same project at the same time in both programs, but after you open a project in Artisan, you will still have access to it in SBC.  Because these programs take up a lot of space and memory on your computer, we recommend that you uninstall SBC once you are able.

Q. Can I transfer images directly from Memory Manager to Artisan?

A. Yes, you can. Choose ‘share to SBC’, and MM will recognize any open Artisan projects as though they were StoryBook projects.

Q. What are the differences between Artisan and StoryBook Creator?

A.  Artisan and StoryBook Creator were both created and developed by the same company, Panstoria.

Artisan 4 is very similar to StoryBook Creator 4,  except Artisan has some significant extra photo editing capabilities. This VIDEO summarises the differences.  Artisan 4 has some other minor enhancements, and has everything that SBC has.

Artisan 5, released in September 2015, is a newly engineered program. It still does everything Artisan 4 and SBC could do, but a whole lot better and a whole lot more too! For an overview of Artisan 5 click HERE. NOTE: Artisan 5 requires a 64-bit processor to run. To check if your computer is suitable click here

SBC is no longer supported, which means there are no new updates, no bug fixes, and no tech support for it.

Q. Help! My content folder is greyed out and I can’t access my content!

Don’t panic! This is easily fixed by following the steps outlined below. For whatever reason the association between Artisan 5 and your library folder has been disconnected, and you need to reset it.

Before trying this, close Artisan and reboot your computer. That may reset the associations. If not, read on …

  1. Open Content Manager.
  2. Click on the greyed out folder. At the top of the main window you will see the “address” of that folder on your computer. Make note of that address.

  3. Click on the small drop-down arrow next to the greyed out folder. Choose Change folder location or remove folder.

  4. A list of options will open. Choose 2. I moved this folder to a new location or drive. (Click this even though you didn’t actually move the folder!)
    2015-11-27_1454
  5. Navigate to the folder location you noted in step 2 above. Choose the location of the folder and click OK. (This image is for illustrative purposes only – your file location may not be the same)

  6. Your content folder should now be usable.

Q. How do I use Artisan or Historian on a Mac computer?

Artisan and Historian  can be used on a Mac, but you will need to partition the Mac and install Windows on it.  This is our recommendation for Mac users who love this software:

There are a number of programs available to partition your Mac computer:

  •  VM Fusion,
  •  Parallels
  •  Boot Camp, which is software included with Mac OS X so you can run compatible versions of Microsoft Windows on an Intel-based Mac. (The drawback of Bootcamp is that you have to close down Mac to run Windows and vice versa.)

In addition to installing one of these partitioning programs, the user will need to have a legal copy of a Windows operating system (preferably Windows 10 or Windows 7, and definitely 64 bit) that can be installed on the new partition.  Some people may have a copy of one of those that they can move from another computer but many will need to purchase that program as well.

Here are some tips:

  • Make sure you are are running the most recent Mac operating system
  • You will need MORE memory available than what is suggested (as you know, these programs take up huge amounts of memory)
  • Get someone knowledgeable to help you partition your machine, or consult online resources (many good ones are available)
  • Make sure you allocate plenty of memory to the Windows partition

Q. I have downloaded some fancy fonts from the Internet. Is there a way to add those to the fancy fonts section rather than having to add them to my embellishments area in the content section?

In order to be used as a Fancy Font by the software, the alpha has to be in a particular format (a proprietary file type specific to Artisan). The designer has to build it that way. There is no way to convert an alpha to that format if it hasn’t been built that way. You can create a personal art kit and will need to import each letter as a png file.

Q. How do I make sure my Ambassador gets credit for my Forever Print Shop orders?

About Memberships

Q. I received a gift membership, but I already have a membership. What do I do?

A. Lucky you!  If you’d like to use your gift membership, you’ll need to cancel the recurring payments on your current membership before you register and begin your gift membership.  When you register your gift membership, please register as an EXISTING MEMBER, using your current user name and password.  DO NOT register as a new user!

Cancelling payments on an existing membership cancels all future scheduled payments of that membership.  We recommend that you wait until three days before your current membership is due to renew to cancel payments on it.  Cancelling payments on a membership will immediately block your access to all member-only content on the site, but don’t panic!  As soon as you complete the registration for your gift membership, you will have access to the content available to you with that membership.

Your gift membership will not begin until you complete the registration for it.  For this reason we recommend that you wait until your current membership is almost due for renewal before making any changes.  We do not have a way to ‘add time’ to the end of recurring memberships, nor is there a way to prorate an ‘unused’ portion of a membership.  Please remember that we have a no refund policy and plan accordingly.

Here are the instructions for cancelling recurring payments:

1. Log in to your PayPal account.

2. Click Profile near the top of the page.

3. Click My money.

4. Click Update beside ‘My pre-approved payments’.

5. Click the name of the subscription you wish to cancel.

6. Click Cancel.

When your gift membership ends, you will need to purchase a new membership if you wish to remain a P2P member.  Enjoy!

Q. How do I purchase a new membership?

A.   Here’s how to purchase a pixels2Pages membership:

  • Click this ‘Join‘ link.  It’s also on the Home page and in the website header.
  • Choose the membership level and term that you want.
  • Payments will be made via PayPal or via credit card.

You may pay by credit card or by PayPal.  Please make sure that your credit card and/or PayPal account information is current and correct (especially your email address and credit card information & expiration date) and be sure to update your PayPal account when your credit card number or expiration date changes.  If your spouse is the PayPal account holder, please make sure you will receive any emails, confirmations, receipts, or notices regarding your pixels2Pages account, and let your spouse know you will be charging something on that account.

All Pixels2Pages memberships (monthly and yearly) will automatically renew until the auto-recurring payments are cancelled.  Gift Memberships and Focus on Historian memberships do not automatically renew.  Please make note of your membership start date so that you’ll be aware of the date your credit card or bank account will be charged each month or year.

When you (or your spouse) receive(s) your credit card statement, you will see a payment made to Forever Inc.  This will be your pixels2Pages membership – please do not question or challenge the charge with your bank without contacting us first!  If you dispute a charge, your membership is automatically cancelled (via PayPal) and there are charges involved that you will be responsible for paying before your membership can be reactivated.  It can take up to 90 days to resolve a disputed claim.  That’s a long time to be without pixels2Pages!

Q. Where can I find information about my membership status?

A. The first place to check on your membership status is in the log in area of the pixels2Pages.net website:

Membership DetailsYou will see which memberships you have purchased just under your name.  You can change your password and/or edit your membership profile by clicking “Membership Details”.  If there is a line through a membership level, it means that membership has been cancelled for some reason.

Occasionally, PayPal is unable to process payments, especially if your credit card info is outdated or incorrect.  When that happens, your access to the p2P website is immediately blocked.  PayPal will try again in five days and in ten days (if needed) to process the payment.  If the payment is made successfully, your access to the site is restored.  If not, your p2P account is suspended and you’ll need to purchase a new membership.  Please DO NOT purchase a new membership without cancelling your current membership 0r receiving notice that it has been suspended.  Doing so may result in duplicate memberships and duplicate payments.

If there is a problem with your membership, or if you want to know when it will be renewing, the best place to check is to log in to your PayPal account.  All memberships are processed via PayPal, and that’s where you will need to check on things and amend them if needed.  If you used a credit card to pay (without going through a PayPal account), you will need to email us to make any changes to your account.  You can check your credit card statements to see when your membership renews.

You may email us at info@pixels2Pages.net (please include your p2P user name) and ask us what you need to know.  We will generally need to go check our PayPal records before we can answer you.

Q. I already have a p2P Membership. How do I link it to my Forever Ambassador?

A.  Good for you for thinking of your Forever Ambassador!  She will appreciate getting credit for your p2P Membership.

Your auto-renewing membership will not be linked to your Ambassador unless you purchased your original membership after using your Ambassador’s p2P Affiliate link (this is different from choosing someone as your Ambassador, since p2P has not been integrated into the Forever system yet).

The good news is that you can stop your current membership and purchase a new one after using your Ambassador’s affiliate link so that she will earn credit for it.

Here are the steps to take:

  • Make sure you have downloaded, saved, and backed up all of the Blueprints available to you.
  • Email us at info@pixels2Pages.net to cancel your current membership whenever you are ready, but at least three days before it is due to renew.
  • Ask your Ambassador to email you her p2P Affiliate link and keep it handy (or ask her where you can find it).
  • Sometime on or after your renewal date, paste your Ambassador’s affiliate link in your browser window, hit enter, and purchase a new membership. That unique link will direct you to the p2P membership page, where it will link you with your Ambassador.
  • Register for your new membership as an existing user, using your current p2P user name and password.  Your Ambassador will not receive credit until you register your membership.

Just a note – we can cancel your membership at any time (whenever you are ready) between now and your renewal date and you will still have access to the website until your renewal date. The main thing for you to do is make sure you download and save your Blueprints, as you will not have access to those Blueprints after you purchase a new membership. Everything else will still be available to you.

This is the ONLY way your Ambassador will earn credit for your p2P membership, as there are too many members for us to be able to credit her manually.

Q. I have a p2P Monthly Membership, but I want to switch to a Yearly one. How do I do that?

A.  Good plan – you’ll save at least $20 a year making this switch!

The most important things for you to know are that you will be cancelling your current membership and purchasing a new one.  It is imperative that you cancel your current monthly membership BEFORE you purchase a new yearly membership to avoid being charged for both.   Also, because you will be starting a new membership, you will no longer have access to Blueprints that are available to you currently.  All that means is that you need to be up-to-date with your downloads (always a good plan!) and you need to have your Blueprints saved and backed up (another good plan!).

Here are the steps to take to switch from a monthly to yearly membership:

  • Make sure you have downloaded, saved, and backed up all of the Blueprints available to you.
  • Email us at info@pixels2Pages.net and put “cancel membership” in the subject line.  Include your p2P user name, the membership you want to cancel, and the email address associated with your PayPal account (if different from your p2P membership email).  You may send this request whenever you are ready, but it must be at least three business days before it is due to renew
    OR
  • Log in to your PayPal account, go to your Profile page, and click My Preapproved Payments.  Cancel the one to Forever for $15 each month.
  • If you have a Forever Ambassador, ask her to email you her p2P Affiliate link and keep it handy (or ask her where you can find it).
  • Sometime on or after your renewal date, paste your Ambassador’s affiliate link in your browser window, hit enter, and purchase a new membership. That unique link will direct you to the p2P membership page, where it will link you with your Ambassador.  If  you don’t have a Forever Ambassador, click HERE to purchase a new membership.
  • Register for your new membership as an existing user, using your current p2P user name and password.  Your Ambassador will not receive credit until you register your membership, and you won’t be able to access the member-only portion of the website until you register.

Q. I am a Forever Ambassador. Is there a way I can earn commission on my p2P membership?

A. Yes, you can!  And you can earn commission on memberships that your customers purchase, and those sales will count towards your sales total.

For now, because p2P hasn’t been integrated into the Forever store yet, you will need to apply to be a p2P Affiliate.  This is the only way you can earn commission (15%) on p2P sales.

You and your customers MUST use your unique Affiliate link in order for you to receive credit for memberships purchased.  There is a complete FAQ section on our Affiliate website HERE.

Be sure to ask to join our p2P Affiliate Facebook group after you have been approved as a p2P Affiliate.

You must be a Forever Ambassador in order to be a p2P Affiliate.

If you are already a p2P Member, here’s what you need to do to earn commission on your own membership.  Please do these steps in this order:

  1. Apply to be a p2P Affiliate – see above step-by-step handout for details.
  2. Download, save, and back up all Blueprints available to you.
  3. Cancel your current membership at least three days before it is due to renew – email info@pixels2Pages.net when you are ready to cancel.
  4. Buy a new membership after clicking through your own affiliate link – see handout for details.
  5. Register for your new membership as an existing/returning member and use your current p2P membership user name and password.

Q. I got an email from PayPal saying my account has been suspended. Why, and what do I do now?

A.  On the date that your recurring membership payment is due, PayPal attempts to process the payment using whatever payment information is on file with them.  If your credit card number has changed, if the expiration date changed, if your address changed, etc., the payment will probably not go through.   At that point, PayPal’s computer communicates with our membership program that payment was unable to be processed, and your access to the p2P site is temporarily blocked.  PayPal will try again in 5 days, and again in another 5 days, to process your payment.  When payments are not made after those three tries, your account is suspended, and you will receive an email notifying you of this action.  The email will be sent to the email address on file at PayPal, not the one you may use at pixels2Pages.

If you have received this email, and you wish to continue to be a pixels2Pages member, you will need to purchase a new p2P membership.  If you are a Forever Ambassador or working with someone who is, please use her p2P Affiliate link to make that purchase so that she (or you) will receive credit for that sale.  If you are not working with an Ambassador, click HERE to purchase a new membership.

Once you’ve made your purchase, you will need to register at p2P again.  You will receive an email from admin@pixels2Pages.net – click the link in it, then register as an EXISTING or returning user.  Use the same p2P user name and password combination that you had previously used for pixels2Pages.

This is the only way to resume your p2P membership.  Once PayPal has suspended your account, there is nothing we can do to reinstate it.  Please make sure that your payment information is current and correct!

We are sorry for any disruption to your membership, and we hope to have you back at p2P very soon!

Q. I don’t want to use PayPal to purchase a membership. Is there another option?

A. Yes, you may pay by PayPal or by credit card (no PayPal account needed).

Should you choose the latter option, you’ll be paying as a PayPal ‘guest’, using the credit card of your choice.  All memberships are processed via PayPal, even if you do not have a PayPal account.

If you have a PayPal account and you purchase your membership through it, you can cancel your membership or alter payment info at any time by logging into your PayPal account and finding your recurring payments.

If you pay by credit card without going through a PayPal account, you will need to contact us at info@pixels2Pages.net to cancel your membership.  If you need to change payment details (new credit card, new expiration date, etc.), you will need to cancel your current membership and purchase a new one using the new card.

Q. Talk to me about the auto-renew option. Do I have to do that?

A. All Pixels2Pages memberships, both monthly and yearly, will be automatically renewed until they are cancelled.  Gift Memberships and Focus on Historian memberships do not automatically renew.

As with most ‘for pay’ websites, you will choose the membership and term that you want, enter your registration and payment information, confirm your registration, and begin receiving access to the membership level that you’ve selected.

Each month (or each year, depending on the membership that you have chosen), your credit card or PayPal account will be billed for that month’s (or year’s) membership.  Your credit card bill will show a charge to ‘Forever Inc’.  Please do not challenge these charges with your bank without contacting us first.

To learn when your membership will be renewed:

  • Log in to your PayPal account and go to “Profile”.  Check to see when recurring payments are made.  If you need help, contact PayPal directly.
  • Check your credit card records to see when your card was charged and make a note of the date.
  • Check your email records to see when you purchased your membership.
  • Send us an email at info@pixels2Pages.net and include your p2P user name.  It will help if you let us know the email address associated with your PayPal account if it is different than the one associated with your p2P membership.

You may cancel payments on your membership at any time; however, your access to the website will be immediately blocked.  If you think that you might want to do that, we strongly advise that you choose a monthly Pixels2Pages membership.  Try this membership for a month or so, and if you don’t like it, here is what you’ll need to do to cancel payments and stop your membership from automatically renewing.

Cancelling payments on a membership will immediately block your access to all member-only content on the site.

To cancel recurring payments, please email us at info@pixels2Pages.net and include your p2P user name and the email address you used when you purchased the membership.  DO NOT contact us via Facebook or by phone call if you wish to cancel your membership.  Allow at least 72 hours for us to receive your email and get your membership cancelled, especially on weekends.

There is no credit given for unused time on a membership!  Please choose your membership wisely, ask questions before you buy, and cancel payments close to the time that your membership is due to renew.

Q. How do I log in to or out of pixels2pages.net?

The log in area on the pixels2Pages website is on the right hand side of the webpage, just under the large banner.

Enter your p2P Membership user name and password. If you lose your password, there is a handy “lost your password” button to click, and you will be able to reset the password at any time.

To check your membership details, click on “More” in the tabbed section on the right side of the page, and choose Edit My Profile.

If you are unable to log in, and you are certain that you are using the correct user name and password, we have several suggestions:

  • Make sure your anti-viral software and/or firewall is not blocking your access to our website
  • Clear your cache (click HERE if you don’t know how to do that)
  • Reboot your computer
  • Try logging in from a different web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer)
  • Try logging in from another computer or device (smart phone, iPad, etc.)

After 10 unsuccessful attempts to log in, you will be locked out of the site for one hour.  Please contact us at info@pixels2Pages.net BEFORE that happens!

You will not be able to log in until you have registered your membership (including a free trial membership) and set up a p2P membership user name and password.
If you have a p2P user name and password, but do not have an active membership, you will still be able to log in, but you will not have access to member-only content.

If you purchased a membership or started a free trial membership, and you have not received a registration email from us after an hour, please contact us at info@pixels2Pages.net.  The ‘time meter’ starts ticking the moment your membership is processed by PayPal, regardless of when you register.

Q. How do I reset my password?

A. In the log in area on the home page at www.pixels2Pages.net, you will see the words “Lost your password?”.  Click there to begin the process of resetting your password. You will receive an email which will include directions for you to follow so that you can reset your password.  Please make sure your computer will allow you to receive automatically generated emails like this by adding pixels2Pages.net to your contact or safe sender list.  If you do not get an email from us fairly quickly, please check your spam and/or junk mail filters and make sure you used the email address associated with your pixels2Pages account.

In the email will be a link for you to click so that you can choose a new password.

We do not send you a new password – you choose what you want and enter it there.

You must use the correct user name (which is generally NOT your email address) and password combination in order to log in.  Attempting to log in unsuccessfully 10 times will cause you to be locked out of the website for an hour!!  It is better to contact us at info@pixels2Pages.net before that happens.

Alternatively, if you know your password and just want to change it, you can do that by logging in, and then clicking “Membership details” in the log in area.

Click on the tab that says “Generate Password”.  A new (long and strong!) password will be generated for you.  You can replace that one with something meaningful to you, but it should not be a weak password.

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click the blue box that says “Update Profile”.

Please keep your password in a safe place.  It should not be shared with anyone, per our Terms of Use.

Q. I just bought a new membership (or signed up for a Free Trial membership), but I don’t have access to the member-only part of the site. What’s up with that?

A. Thanks for joining us, and please don’t panic!

After your payment information has been received by PayPal, you will be sent two emails – one from PayPal, and one from admin@pixels2Pages.net. There is a chance that the one from pixels2Pages may end up in your spam folder, and it’s the one you need to complete and/or confirm your registration.  Please check your spam or junk mail folder and when you find that email, click the link in it and get yourself registered.

We are finding that many people have a different email address associated with their PayPal accounts.  If this is the case, please check that email account for the confirmation email.  We can only send emails to the address you tell us about when you place your order.

If you do not find the email, no worries!  Just email us at info@pixels2Pages.net and we will get your membership confirmed.  Remember that we don’t know you’re having a problem until we hear from you.

If you have been a p2P member before (at any time since September 2012), DO NOT try to register as a new user.  You already have a p2P account and user name, and you should follow the instructions for registering as an existing user.

Please include your p2P user name with all correspondence  so that we can help you faster and more efficiently.

Q. I thought my membership was auto-renewing, and I didn’t cancel it. Why can I not access the site today?

A.  It sounds like there may be a problem with your PayPal account information.  Please check your account at www.paypal.com to see if your monthly or yearly payment was processed.  We receive “Payment skipped” messages like the one below from PayPal almost every day:

Hello pixAbilities, LLC,

We cannot process the following recurring payment. We will try again in five days.

Profile ID:xxxxxxxxxxxxx
For: Pixels2Pages Monthly
Date Due: Feb 16, 20xx
Next Payment Date: Feb 21, 20xx

**************************************

It is very important that you read the following information CAREFULLY.

Here’s what you should do if you have a membership and suddenly cannot access the website:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account and make sure that all of your payment information is current and correct.  Check to make sure that credit cards have not expired and/or that balances have not been exceeded.  Make sure that you have a secondary form of payment that is different from your primary form of payment registered with PayPal.
  2. If your information is incorrect, correct it.  Corrections must be made more than three business days before the next payment is due.  If you think all of the information is correct as it is, my advice is to contact PayPal and see what the problem was.
  3. PayPal will try to process your payment in FIVE DAYS.   You will not have access to the website until payment is made, but your membership is still active.  DO NOT purchase another membership during that interval, as you will then have duplicate memberships and will start being double-billed.  Remember that you will not miss anything while your access to the site is blocked.  Everything will be there on your return.
  4. If you absolutely cannot wait five days, log into your PayPal account and CANCEL PAYMENTS on your current membership or contact us to cancel for you.
  5. AFTER you have cancelled payments on that membership, you may go back to our website and purchase a new membership.
  6. You will need to make sure you follow all instructions that will come in an email (check your junk mail!) regarding completing your registration.  You will need to click the link in the email, then follow the instructions to register as an existing/returning member.  Enter your old user name and password.  DO NOT TRY TO REGISTER AS IF YOU WERE A NEW MEMBER!
  7. If you have already purchased another membership and then the payment on your original membership was processed, please notify us immediately (info@pixels2Pages.net) and you may be eligible for a partial refund.
  8. It is your responsibility to make sure your PayPal account information is current and correct.  Please remember that we do not collect or have access to your payment information – it is all safely stored at PayPal.
  9. It is also your responsibility to make sure you only have ONE active membership at a time.  Because there are fees involved with each PayPal transaction made, you will not receive a full refund if you end up with duplicate memberships.

Q. How will I know when my membership renews? Or if it’s expired?

A. All Pixels2Pages memberships, both monthly and yearly, will be automatically renewed until they are cancelled.  Gift Memberships and Focus on Historian memberships do not automatically renew.  No notices are sent regarding renewals; please make note of your renewal date in your calendar, especially if you have purchased an annual membership.

Monthly and yearly Pixels2Pages memberships start upon receipt of payment and will be automatically renewed.  Free Trial memberships begin as soon as payment information is processed, and you will be charged a monthly rate after 30 days.  This charge will continue each month until the membership is cancelled.  If you sign up for more than one membership of any kind, you will be charged for all of them.  Please do NOT start multiple memberships!  Contact us if you run into a problem.

There is no such thing as a ‘one-month’ or ‘one-year’ membership.  Until and unless you cancel recurring payments on a particular membership, or until PayPal is unable to process payments on your membership, it will continue to be renewed.  There is no credit given for unused memberships.

Check to see when recurring or “pre-approved” payments are made.

Q. I have purchased or been given a membership, but now what do I do? How do I log in?

A. Thanks for joining us!  After your payment has been received, you will receive two emails – one from PayPal, and one from admin@pixels2Pages.net. There is a chance that the one from pixels2Pages may end up in your spam folder, and it’s the one you need to complete your registration.  So please check your spam folder and when you find that email, click the link and get yourself registered!  If you cannot find that email, please send the following information to info@pixels2pages.net:

If you are a NEW member (you have not ever had a pixels2Pages account), please send:

  • Your preferred User Name:      (Cannot be changed once chosen – should NOT be an email address – and it must be unique)
  • The email address you would like to use for your p2P account
  • Do you agree to the p2P terms and conditions?        (Please read these before you agree!)

To complete the registration process without the email mentioned above, you will need to send me your p2P user name and I will issue you a temporary password and complete your registration.  You must reset your password before logging in for the first time.

Here’s the procedure for resetting your password:

Click the ‘lost your password‘ link (at log in). You will receive an email with instructions for how to reset your password. We do not send you a new password – you must click the link in the email to set your own password. You may use the same one you were using before, or change it to something different.

If you already have or have had a pixels2Pages account (even if it was a Free Trial), with a user name and password, you’ll want to follow the instructions for option TWO (after you click the link in the registration email).  You will just need to enter your user name and password.  You will not register as a new member.

We’ll be waiting for you!

3. Click My Money.

Q. I have a new email address. Would you please change it for me?

A.  Actually, I’ll tell you how to change it – and thanks for remembering that you need to!

Log in to www.pixels2Pages.net.

Go to the Home page, and look for the gray boxes on the right-hand side of the page.

At the top of that gray box, click the word “p2P”.

Click the link that says “Edit Profile: My membership details”

You will be directed to your pixels2Pages profile page.  You can change your first and last name, add a nickname, choose which name you would like to show publicly, change your email, and (scroll down) change your password.

You must click the “Update Profile” button at the bottom of the page for these changes to take effect.

We do not recommend adding any other personal information.

Q. I don’t want my membership to automatically renew. How do I keep that from happening?

A. To do this, you will need to cancel recurring payments on that membership.  There are two ways to do this:

  1. To change or cancel your agreement with Forever, Inc, log in to your PayPal account, go to your Profile page, and click My Preapproved Payments.
  2. Email us at info@pixels2Pages.net and put “cancel membership” in the subject line.  Include your p2P user name, the membership you want to cancel, and the email address associated with your PayPal account (if different from your p2P membership email).

Cancelling payments on a membership cancels all future scheduled payments of that membership. If you would like us to cancel your membership, please notify us at least three business days before the next scheduled payment.   Cancelling payments on a membership will immediately block your access to all member-only content on the site, but don’t panic!  We will fix that as soon as possible and you will have access to your membership until it was due to renew.

There are no refunds given for portions of memberships and/or unused memberships.

Q. What if I join, and then decide I want to quit. Will I get my money back? How do I cancel my membership?

A. Because of the nature of this kind of internet subscription/membership plan (meaning you can join for a short time and see everything available!), and because we offer a Free Trial to anyone, we do not offer refunds.

All memberships (except Focus On Historian and Gift Memberships) are auto-renewing.  Your credit card or PayPal account will continue to be charged until payments have been cancelled via PayPal.

You may cancel payment on your membership up until three days before it is due to renew.  If you think that you might want to do that, we strongly advise that you sign up for a one-month Free Trial membership.  Try the membership for 30 days, and if you don’t like it, email us at info@pixels2Pages.net and enter ‘Cancel p2P Membership’ in the subject line.  Include your p2P user name and the email address associated with your PayPal account (or the one associated with your p2P membership, if you don’t have a PayPal account).

Please note that memberships must be cancelled through PayPal.   You will receive an email from PayPal when your membership has been cancelled.  If you do not receive this email, you should assume your membership is still active and payments will continue.  There are no refunds given for unused portions of memberships.

A. Email us at info@pixels2Pages.net and put “cancel membership” in the subject line.  Include your p2P user name, the membership you want to cancel, and the email address associated with your PayPal account (if different from your p2P membership email).

Please allow at least 72 hours for us to act on your request.

Cancelling payments on a membership cancels all future scheduled payments of that membership. A membership can be cancelled up until three business days before the next scheduled payment.

Cancelling payments on a membership will immediately block your access to all member-only content on the site, but don’t panic!  We will fix that as soon as possible and you will have access to your membership until it was due to renew.

To cancel payments yourself (if you purchased through PayPal):

Here are the instructions for cancelling:

1. Log in to your PayPal account.

2. Click Profile near the top of the page.

3. Click My money.

4. Click Update beside ‘My pre-approved payments.’

5. Click the name of the subscription you wish to cancel.

6. Click Cancel.

There are no refunds given for unused memberships.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Cancelling payments on a recurring membership will immediately block access to your current membership.  If you cancel payments early in your billing cycle and you would like to keep using p2P until the end of the billing cycle, please notify us by emailing info@pixels2Pages.net (please include your p2P User Name) so that we can reactivate your membership for the remainder of the payment period.  This must be manually done, so it may not happen immediately.  We appreciate your patience.
  • Should you choose to cancel your membership now and then purchase a new membership at a later date, you will not have access to Blueprints posted prior to the date you start your new membership.

Q. Will anything on the pixels2Pages.net website be available to me if I don’t purchase a membership?

A.  Yes.  The five globes at the top of the home page are clickable links that take you to the areas of the site that are open to the public.  They include our Behind the Globe blog posts, an idea gallery, our news posts, a Help section (including these FAQs and more!) and a way to contact us.  On the right-hand side of the home page, about halfway down, you’ll find our Terms of Use, information about our team, and our signature Portfolio, Going Global.

If you’re not a member, click the Free Trial link at the top of the home page to see a sampling of all that we offer.

We hope you’ll be joining the fun soon!  Click HERE when you’re ready to purchase a membership!

Q. How long will I have to download Blueprints?

A. As long as you maintain an active pixels2Pages membership, you will have access to the blueprints released from the time that you joined. If you cancel your membership and later rejoin, you will only have access to Blueprints released from your new starting date and going forward.  If your membership is suspended due to payment issues and you rejoin right away, you will have access to those earlier Blueprints.

It is your responsibility to download, save, and back up blueprints while they are available to you.  Blueprints are released on the last Saturday of every month for the next month.  We strongly encourage you to make it a habit to download and save your Blueprints in a timely manner to avoid disappointments.

Click HERE to go directly to Blueprints currently available with your membership.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and go to the earliest ‘previous entries’ and make sure you have downloaded them.

About Digital Artwork

Q. Will Forever be selling any Disney digital artwork? Can I use Disney artwork I already own?

A. Forever currently does not have any licenses to sell Disney products or artwork, and they are not likely to in the near future. If you own Disney content that you have previously purchased, it will continue to work in Artisan.

Posted in: About Digital Artwork

Q. How long will I be able to use the Art Kit Download Finder?

A. The Art Kit Download Finder is a tool to allow Artisan users to download previously purchased art kits for which they have valid activation codes.  This is to assist users who may have lost art kits when moving their software to new machines or those whose downloaded art kits were corrupted, incompletely downloaded, or otherwise unusable.

It is required that you enter the content activation code you received when you purchased the artwork.  You can access the tool HERE.

There are no plans to disable the Art Kit Download Finder.

Q. My content is currently on an EHD. Will Artisan recognise it?

A. Yes. If you use the built in Content Migration Utlility, Artisan will find content on an EHD. Otherwise, you will need to let Artisan know where your content is located.  Full instructions are HERE (for the benefit of our members).

Q. I have Artisan on one computer. If I purchase Artisan for a different laptop can I use/copy the digital content to the laptop with Artisan?

A. Yes, you certainly may. It is fine to have a second copy of your digital content, as long as it is for your personal use.

Posted in: About Digital Artwork

Q. Can I redownload kits if I have the activation codes?

A.  If you purchased digital content from Forever, Panstoria or Creative Memories but you can’t find the kit, or the kit has gotten corrupted, you can re-download those kits as long as you still have the activation codes for them.

Q. I purchased several CM kits for SBC4 but had not uploaded to my laptop. Am I unable to obtain these kits now?

A. If you have the activation codes, you can download those kits from Forever. Here’s the LINK.

Q. I can’t seem to tag some of my Artisan content. Why not?

A. It seems that some people are unable to tag content that is in the “Built-in Kits” folder and occasionally other folders. This is due to file permissions.

If you are comfortable with changing the file permissions, then go ahead and do that. But the simpler solution might be to create a different default folder for your content. If you move the content to a different folder, you will be able to tag it. Here are the instructions for changing the default folder for new content.

To change the file permissions, right-click the folder in question, and choose properties. Click on the Securities Tab and Click Edit to change the permissions:

Make sure all the permissions are checked for “Allow” and then click OK.

Q. When I switch from SBC to Artisan will everything copy across?

A. Yes. All your categories, tags, current projects, digital content, recent project icons, activation codes will transfer.

Q. After installing Artisan, a lot of my digital artwork is still locked. What do I do now?

A. Some people have found that their Creative Memories digital content is remaining locked even after going through the migrate process. There is a fix for this. Click  HERE to download the ‘migration utility’. After you have downloaded it, run it and click the Migrate button.

If you find that some of your previously purchased digital artwork has not been properly installed or is still missing, and you have the necessary activation codes, click HERE to download it again.

Q. If I purchase Artisan after the first of the year, will I still be able to unlock my previously purchased CM items?

About Crops

Q. What is a p2P Crop?

About once a quarter, pixels2Pages holds a “virtual” weekend crop for all our fans. Crops are a special opportunity to get lots of pages done while having plenty of fun!

Posted in: About Crops

Q. How long do crops run for?

A crop usually runs from Friday morning though Sunday evening (US Eastern time), with regular announcements on this website, our Facebook page and in our email newsletters in the weeks leading up to the crop so you know exactly when it is.

Posted in: About Crops

Q. What does a crop involve?

Over the course of the weekend, the pixels2Pages team will post crop activities for you to participate in (for example – challenges to do, videos to watch, tips to read) and content to help you get pages done (such as special crop Blueprints, Pixie Dust, and/or Forever digital artwork).

Posted in: About Crops

Q. How do I join in a crop?

By making pages using the crop goodies and completing activities! During the crop there is a flurry of activity on the Facebook page, as everyone posts the pages they are doing.

Posted in: About Crops

Q. Does everyone crop by themselves?

Some of our fans like to gather with friends that weekend and all crop together, but most people are cropping at home.  It’s a virtual get-together!

Posted in: About Crops

Q. What if I can’t crop for the whole weekend?

The crop posts and activities remain on the website for the duration of the crop, so if you aren’t available for the whole weekend, you can still see all the posts, download the crop goodies and join in the fun when you are able. (Please be aware, most crop goodies/coupons are available for a strictly limited time).

Posted in: About Crops

Q. I won’t be around at all during the crop. Will I be able to look at crop activities and download crop goodies later?

Most crop goodies and coupons are available for a strictly limited time. Availability will be advertised before, during and immediately after each crop. Once crop posts are taken down, they will no longer be accessible by anyone.

Posted in: About Crops

Q. How do I register for a crop?

There’s no need to register for our crops. If you are a full pixels2Pages member, you will automatically have full access to all crop activities and goodies. All you need to do to participate is watch for the crop posts on this website and/or our Facebook page and join in!

Posted in: About Crops

Q. What if I’m not a full p2P member?

Non-members, Back2Basics members, and Focus on Historian members do not usually have access to all the crop goodies. However, we invite everyone to participate by sharing pages, earning badges, commenting on posted pages, and generally  joining in the fun. To derive the full benefit of the crop giveaways, click HERE to for information about pixels2Pages memberships.

Q. What are crop badges?

Crop participants can earn badges for completing certain tasks, or using certain content on their pages. A badge is just a digital image you can download as a visual reward for achieving your goals.

Posted in: About Crops

Q. How do I earn badges?

Badges can be earned for making a certain number of pages, using the crop-exclusive content, using a technique from a crop video or completing a challenge, or a number of other activities. We will advertise on our website and on Facebook how to earn badges with each crop.

Posted in: About Crops

Q. How do I get the badges?

The badges themselves are image files (jpegs) that you download from an album on our Facebook page when you have completed the activity. Each badge says what activity it is for. We will post links to the album regularly.

Posted in: About Crops

Q. What is the purpose of earning badges?

Collecting badges is a fun way to reward yourself for achieving your goals, and motivating you to get one more page done … and another … In addition, when you have earned a specified number of badges, you qualify for a crop reward (often a coupon for discounted printing or similar).

Posted in: About Crops

Q. What do I do with the badges?

In order to receive your reward, you will need to make a page displaying all the badges you have earned and post it on our Facebook page. We will post details of the reward (usually a discount at the Forever Print Shop) at the end of the crop. If you don’t use Facebook, the pages can be emailed to us at info@pixels2pages.net.

Here are some examples of badge pages created in previous crops:

Q. How do I download and install the Crop Freebies?

Our crop freebies are in “.pakit” format. This is the standard proprietary format of kits that are purchased in the Forever store, and they allow you to bring the kits into your Artisan 5 content manager. They function just like any kit you purchased from the Forever Store.

To download the kits, click on the thumbnail image as indicated. The kits will usually automatically be saved to your downloads folder, unless you have chosen an alternate location. Once the download has completed, open the Artisan Content Manager. Click on Import Content.

Choose Commercial Art Kit.

FAQ_ImportPakits_SA_001

Navigate to your downloads folder (or wherever you saved the files to). If you can’t see the thumbnails, make sure your view is set to large or extra large icons, or look for files with the extension “.pakit”. Click once to select one of the kits, then click Open.

Choose which library folder to import the kit to. If you have not customised your library folders, choose Commercial Art Kits.
FAQ_ImportPakits_SA_003

Click OK and the kit will install. You can now use it via the content panel (for papers and embellishments) and/or the Add Page or Template buttons on the Home ribbon (for Blueprints or page templates) in any of your projects. Repeat the steps to import any other Crop Freebie Kits.

Q. Where do I get the badges?

All the crop badges are posted in an album on Facebook for a limited time. You do not need to be a Facebook user to access the badges. CLICK HERE to find the badges for the NSD 2016 Life is in the Details Crop.

A. Forever’s software programs, Artisan and Historian, are only available as downloads. You can always redownload the programs if needed HERE.

Content (digital artwork) is also available as a download only. If you lose digital artwork, you can redownload it, if you have a valid activation code, using the Art Kit Download Finder.

Q. Does Forever provide Tech Support for Memory Manager and StoryBook Creator programs?

A. No, they don’t.  These programs are obsolete and no longer supported at all. If you are having problems, it would be a good time to upgrade to Artisan/Historian.

Q. How do I contact Forever if I need help or have a problem?

A. Here’s the link to Forever’s Support Page. You can email Forever Support directly on support@forever.com or telephone them on 1-888-FOREVER (1-888-3673837)

PLEASE BE PREPARED TO WAIT FOR A RESPONSE FROM FOREVER TECH SUPPORT!!

We suggest that, as always, you tackle any problem by reading FAQs (ours here, and/or the ones on the Forever Help Zone), as many of the most common problems have been addressed and answered.  While pixels2Pages does not provide technical support, we do our best to support our members.  Please check our tips and news posts, or ask us if you need direction.  You can contact us at info@pixels2Pages.net – we do our best to respond to inquiries within 24 hours.

If you need more help than you can find here, and you contact tech support, please do your best to describe the problem you are having as completely, clearly, and concisely as possible, and include the exact wording of any error messages you’ve received.  It is also helpful if you can describe what you were doing when the problem happened by reviewing the steps that you had taken prior to the problem.  Having screen shots may be valuable, too.  Try to refrain from asking the same question over and over, which only delays the process since the tech support staff will have to wade through even more messages.  Thankfully, there are very few ‘scrapbooking emergencies’, so we can all afford to be patient.

About Blueprints

Q. Do I need to purchase WinZip to open my zipped Blueprints?

No, you do not need to purchase any program to open zipped files. Windows has a built in zipping/unzipping function which you can use. Some Windows computers come with a trial version of a third party program called WinZip already installed. Once the trial period expires, if you try to unzip a file, you will see a dialog box asking you to buy the program. There is no need to buy it. Just uninstall WinZip and the WinZip Associated File Helper from your computer. Then you will be able to access the built in unzipping function by right clicking on the zipped file and choosing “Extract All”. In the dialog, choose the location the extracted contents will be saved to on your computer. (In case you ever need to zip a file, right click > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.)

Q. When importing a blueprint into Artisan, why can’t I see an image of the page?

A. This happens sometimes. You will need to reinstall Artisan.  Please click “Click to check for software updates” on the bottom of the Artisan welcome screen, or click HERE to download the latest update. You will not lose any current projects, content, or any of your settings. You don’t need to uninstall Artisan first, but when reinstalling, if you are asked, choose “repair”.

Q. How do I import Blueprints into Artisan content manager?

Blueprints cannot be imported into Artisan content. Only commercial art kits can be added to content.

We recommend that you save your blueprints to a folder on your computer. Each time you want to use a blueprint, go to the Home ribbon and click on Add Page > From my computer. Browse to the folder you saved the blueprints in, and you will be able to choose the one you want. Make sure your view is set to large thumbnails, and you will be able to see an image of the page.

Q. What is the significance of the way you name your Blueprints?

All of our Blueprints since 1 October 2011 are now named with the following ‘system’. This naming system means that all your blueprints can be stored in a folder and will automatically be sorted by page size and the number of photo openings.

For example:
p2P_12_7_SpecialLunchJF

  • p2P for pixels2pages, of course.
  • 12 = Page size (12 for 12×12 pages, 11 for 11×8.5 pages)
  • 7 = The number of photo openings
  • Special Lunch = The Name we have given the blueprint
  • JF = the Blueprint designer, in this case, Justine Forrest

p2P_12_1_R_MumsTaxiJG

  • For the double page blueprints, there is one extra R or L, to indicate left or right hand page

Q. Do members have access to past videos on pixels2Pages?

Previously posted videos, tips, FAQ, blogs, and challenges are accessible to members according to their membership category.

Q. How long will videos be available for viewing?

Videos remain on the site indefinitely.  So, no worries about not being able to refer back to a tidbit, workshop, Start2Finish, or other video that you may have seen a few months ago.  As long as you are a current member, you’ll have access to these videos.

There may be occasional exceptions – limited edition videos that are posted and labeled as such, and videos that become dated or obsolete over time. We will let you know in advance if a video is to be removed.

Q. Can I watch your videos on my iPad or iPhone?

All videos added to our website after October 1, 2011 can be watched on iPads, iPhones and other mp4 players. All our older (SBC 3.0) videos in the Archives section can only be played on devices that support Flash Player.

Q. Is there a way to view the videos in full screen?

Yes, there certainly is. At the very bottom right of the video frame there is a little rectangular icon. Click that to go to full screen view. To go back to the normal view, hit the ESC (escape) key, or click the same icon again. The control bar of the videos will disappear while you are watching for unimpeded viewing.  Just move the mouse across the screen for access to the video controls.

Q. Are there printable handouts to go with your videos?

Most videos do not include handouts.  The exceptions are Back2Basics Lessons and the Portfolios in our Video Archives.

Videos will remain on the site for active members to review at any time, and we invite you to take notes as you follow along.  Remember that you can pause and play as you watch.

Often, techniques shown in these videos have been covered in other videos, on Good2Know handouts, in Challenges, in Tips, or in FAQ’s.  We have no plans to include handouts with the videos.

Q. I am having problems viewing your videos.

Having trouble viewing our videos? Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Turn off all extra programs running, including Skype and IM programs (these programs can take up some of your bandwidth, which can cause video streaming issues)
  2. If the video keeps stopping, pause the video and let it fully load before trying to watch it.
  3. If you are watching a video and the video stops running at the same point each time, you are likely experiencing a timing out issue. The best solution we have found is to move your mouse frequently (or adjust the power settings on your computer). Sometimes your computer power settings will stop activity if it doesn’t detect movement. Give this a try as it is the most common fix for our viewers.
  4. If you are experiencing repeated “delays” in the video playing, then it is likely a bandwidth issue. Check that you are getting a good signal from your internet network or wireless router. These videos are streaming from our website to your computer, so they need a good connection to run smoothly.
  5. If you haven’t restarted your computer in forever like I often do, now would be a good time (and then quit out of Skype again since it will auto load on restart). By restarting, you will clear your clipboard of extra stuff that inevitably builds up when working with digital programs- and slows down your machine.
  6. How much RAM you have on your computer and the processor speed can also affect your viewing capabilities.

Hopefully these tips will resolve any the problems you may experience.

About pixels2Pages

Q. I can’t enter my password in the Login Box!

We have recently made some slight changes to the login process on pixels2Pages.net. It is generally an improvement, but has caused a problem for some users.

What happens is that the login text does not show up as you enter it. In fact the text is there, you just can’t see it. If you type your user name and password, it will still let you log on. There is also a login button on the very top blue bar (near the search button), and that one seems to work more normally.

If you do make a mistake, you will be taken to a different login screen, which works in the usual way. Click the “Remember Me” box so you don’t have to keep entering your details each time.

Q. Why do I have to log in all the time now?

Unfortunately this is something outside of our control. But here is a work around that will make things easier.

  1. Type in your user name but no password and click login.
  2. You will be taken to a different login screen, where you can check the “Remember Me” button.
  3. Put the correct password in there.
  4. After that it will still ask you to log in if you have been inactive for a while, but you shouldn’t have to keep entering your information, you can just click the login button.

Q. How do I post a double page spread to Facebook?

There are several ways to do this, here are 3 that all work, choose whichever one you like. Method 1 is the easiest!

Method 1
The Snipping tool is a handy tool that comes with most Windows computers. If you are not familiar with it, just type ‘snip’ in the Windows Search and it should appear in the start menu. Follow the directions to snip a screen shot of just your double page spread. Then save it as a jpeg and upload to Facebook as usual.

Method 2
Save both pages as jpeg files. Then on a blank page in Artisan, import both pages as photos. Position them side by side and flatten together. Right click on the flattened image and choose Save selection>Export to image file to save the new image as a jpeg. Now you can upload the saved image to Facebook as usual.

Method 3
Most computers have a print screen (PRT SCR) button. This enables you to take a snapshot of everything that is on your computer screen. So have your Artisan pages open, choose View>Two Page. Hit the PRT SCR button on your keyboard. It won’t look like anything has happened, but if you open a blank Artisan page and click Paste, the image of everything that was on your screen will paste to your page. Use the Cut & Fill Ribbon>Shapes to crop away everything except your pages. Then save the new image as a jpeg and upload to Facebook as usual.

Click HERE for instructions on importing pages.

Q. How do I create or share a screenshot?

The easiest way to do this is using the Snipping Tool. The Snipping Tool is pre-installed with Windows, so you should already have it on your computer. The Snipping Tool itself comes with clear & detailed instructions, but in brief:

  • To open Snipping Tool, type Snipping Tool in the search box on the taskbar, and then select Snipping Tool.

  • To take a screenshot with Snipping Tool, select New, and then select the part of the screen that you want to capture. Choose from free-form, rectangular, window, or full-screen snips by selecting the arrow on the New button.

  • After you create the snip, you can draw on it with the built-in pens, save it, copy it, or email it to someone.

Q. I can’t see the top menu bar (for users of Internet Explorer)

We are aware that our site does not display exactly as we would like it to for people using Internet Explorer. We are unable to completely fix the problem, but there is a setting that will help.

In your browser address bar, right at the top of the screen, there is a little button called “Compatibility View”. It looks like a tiny piece of torn paper.

Click that button, and the site should display correctly for you, and the menu bar will be visible.

Q. Where did my downloaded file go (for Google Chrome users)?

Google Chrome treats downloads somewhat differently from Internet Explorer, so if you have recently switched over you may not be familiar with the process. Internet Explorer gives you the option to open or save a download file, whereas Chrome automatically saves the file to a default location.

To identify or change the default location, do the following:

  1. Click on the little wrench in the top right hand corner of the screen.
  2. Choose Options
  3. Under Options Choose “Under the Hood”
  4. Half way down the screen you will see Downloads. The default download location will be indicated – in my case this is a folder called “Downloads”. You can click ‘Change’ to choose your own loaction. Or check the box next to ‘Ask where to save each file before downloading’ to be given the option to choose a location with each download.

Q. What are .extx files and can I delete them?

In SBC3, the .EXTX files contained the keyword date for each kit. In SBC4 and Artisan, the keywords (now called ‘tags’) are saved in the package and sbkit files themselves, so the extx files are not necessary once the packages have been updated by Artisan/SBC4.

So it is OK to delete those .extx files, once you have converted to Artisan/SBC4, and converted your keywords, if you wish to, from SBC3 (File > Convert Keywords)

For more information on the files contained in Artisan projects, click HERE.
