2013 was an awesome year. In 2012 I had made several resolutions. Many were scrapbooking related. Of course there was that “weight related” resolution that I silently made, but did not follow. Well for 2014, my resolution is to scrap more, love more, live more and have more fun. I did not set any “weight loss” related goals or resolutions because I already had/have my goals in place, though technically, the “LIVE MORE” partly relies on me losing weight.
It all started just before my 38th birthday. Something clicked in me and I decided that I needed to get off my unhealthy weight. I decided that I would lose 100 lbs. before my 39th birthday. That would be a tough road to go down. I would have to lose 2 lbs. almost every week. Nonetheless, I set out to do it. I started Body by Denise on June 24, 2013. Then I went on vacation and did not return to July 13, 2013. From July 13, 2013 through December 21, 2013, I lost an amazing 73 lbs. In just 5 months I am 75% of the way to my original goal (that is with a few setbacks over the holiday season where I gained, and lost, 7 lbs.). I plan to continue what I am doing. At this rate I should be under 200 lbs. by January 31, 2014 and I should have reached that original goal of 100 lbs. by the end of February 2014. That is a full 4 months ahead of schedule.
So let’s get back to the “LIVE MORE”. In the past 6 months or so, I have learned that fitness is fun. Denise Warren of Body by Denise daily reminds the BBD family that we must live L.I.F.E. (Live in Fitness Everyday). She is tough and no nonsense and she makes exercise fun. But it is up to me to make fitness fun outside of her dance floor. Santa has recently delivered a Fitbit Force to my door. I am new to the Fitbit family but am enjoying it thus far. I also purchased a few more fitness focused games for the XBOX Kinect. My most recent purchase was the Biggest Loser game for XBOX. And I’ve fallen in love with cooking again; experimenting with sodium free seasonings, fresh herbs and lean meats. I am also enjoying my new wardrobe. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 14/16 and didn’t have to buy a lick of clothing. That is because for the last 9 years, (since my daughter was born), my mother would buy me gifts of clothing for my birthday and for Christmas. The thing is, she would buy 1 item that fit, and several items that were too small, insisting that I should lose weight and get into them. All I could do was pack them away. Finally…. finally… I am tearing the tags off those clothes and wearing them. I feel great because I look good, I get around better, I don’t tire as easily, I am stronger, and I am healthier. So for 2014 I am NOT making a resolution to lose weight or continue losing weight. For 2014 I have resolved to scrap more, love more, live more and have more fun, and I want you all to join me.
