What a month! A very full and action packed, busy month!
Our family has just spent a full month at home, in Australia, from The Africa Mercy in Madagascar. We have spent time with Chloe (our oldest daughter) and other family and friends. Dave and I even got to have dinner at Alison and Rob’s house with Shelley and Keith while they were also in Australia. It was the first time that Alison and I had actually “met” so that was very exciting!
We traveled between Tathra and Sydney twice. Organised new passports for the girls, renewed a visa for me and completed lots of other admin tasks that couldn’t be done from the ship.
Fortunately, there have been lots of little pockets of rest and relaxation and we have had a great break in between all the running around.
I brought my “big” camera, carried it with me everywhere and hardly used it! I have loved taking little snapshots on my phone every now and then, but mostly I have enjoyed the simplicity of being technology free, most of the time, and just being in the moment. There have been some beautiful moments too. While we have been here, we have had a great-nephew be born, Dave and I celebrated a wedding anniversary in Sydney, we attended a wonderful wedding of family friends, another great-nephew was dedicated and we have got to share some of the amazing experiences from our last year with many lovely people.
All of us will be sad to say our goodbyes to family tomorrow as we begin our journey home. However, we are all excited to be going back to our life on the ship and getting back to some sort of routine and normality.
First stop Durban to meet the ship and then in a couple of weeks we will be sailing back for another 10 months in Madagascar.
Just looking back over these photos, I see a few common themes.
- Favorite and familiar places and people
- Coffee and food
- Blue skies and oceans … lots of water
- Art galleries
Lots of our favorite things and just further proof that we have had a great time 🙂
