Happy Talk with Jan McCallum - how digital scrapbooking works in my life at pixels2Pages.net

Like Shelley, I’ve been doing a bit of traveling lately myself, so you might think this blog is about how nice it is to be back home on Tiki Island.  While it is great to be home, back to my own bed and a closet full of clothes (even though I have not unpacked yet!!), my own kitchen, and the view that I love seeing every day, that’s not what I’m writing about today.  No, today I want to share with you the feeling that I (and many others) experienced at Forever LIVE last weekend in Atlanta – the feeling that we were BACK!  Back where memory keeping is at the heart of our businesses.  Back where there is a definitive mission to work with people who want to preserve their photos and tell their stories so that their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and beyond know who they are and from whence they came.  Back where there is a leader who has a clear vision for the future of the company and is able to paint it for others to see.  Back with others who share the same passions for pictures, stories, and digitally crafting them into books as I have.  Back with friends I haven’t seen in three years, since the last Creative Memories Showcase.  Back where my heart is filled with joy and the excitement of people around me is palpable.  Forever LIVE was all of these things and more, and I feel like I have come HOME!!

If you were in Atlanta last weekend, you know what I mean, and I applaud you for stepping out in faith and being there.  Those of us in attendance heard that this was only the first of many future Forever LIVE events, so if you didn’t make it to this one, put it on your list for next year!  For me, as a Pixie, one of the very coolest things was seeing the other six Pixies in attendance finally ‘meet’ each other in person.  Penny and Shelley had both met Mary and me before, but they hadn’t met any of the others.  We had seven Pixies physically in one place at the same time – the most ever – and we cannot wait until all eleven of us will be together in person!  What if that could happen next year at Forever LIVE?  Wouldn’t you want to be there for that momentous occasion?

The icing on the cake for me was getting to meet so many of our p2P members and fans that I hadn’t met ‘in the flesh’ and catching up with ones I had met at previous p2P LIVE events.  It’s been a long time since I shared so many hugs, smiles, squeals, and photo ops with so many old friends.  It was sort of like a high school reunion, only better!  To everyone who came to Atlanta – including three people from Perth, Australia – thank you for making the sacrifice to be there.  We realize what it takes to be away from your families for days, to spend the money it takes to get there and stay there, and to make memory keeping a priority in your lives, and we appreciate it.  For those who weren’t able to be there this year, including our teammates, we missed you!

In case you haven’t seen it yet, HERE is a short video of some of the highlights of the weekend.  And I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention one of the biggest deals of the event – the unveiling of FOREVER Artisan 5!!!  Oh my gosh!!  Do you have any idea how hard it has been for us to keep quiet about how totally cool this new program is?  We’ve been working with it for a few weeks and it took all we had not to start gushing about it before it was time to!  You already know how much we love Artisan 4 – now multiply that a hundred-fold!  If you haven’t gotten it yet, what are you waiting for??  It is so much fun to play with!  That said, it is a new program and even though we did our best to find all the bugs, there are still a few that pop up occasionally….but Mike and Paul are on the job and have already released two updates to fix them.  We have set up a Facebook group called Artisan 5: Good2Know so that we have one place for you to ask questions and report bugs, so hop on over and join us if you are using Artisan 5.  It will take us a while to get the pixels2Pages website populated with Artisan 5 information, so we ask for your patience.  Remember that you don’t have to know everything at once – just have fun pushing buttons and finding what’s new!

We are so glad you are here with us on this memory-keeping journey!  Welcome home!

I’m running a bit behind, still playing catch up from being gone for weeks, so I have hijacked one of Pixie Kim’s pages for a bit!  Thanks, Kim!  One of the goody bag gifts that Forever LIVE attendees received was some digital content – a collaborative kit by the FOREVER store designers (you are probably noticing that there was a big branding change last weekend, too – the Panstoria store is now the FOREVER store), a Blueprint Book designed especially for Forever LIVE by p2P, and a cool ‘Pizza with the Pixies’ kit by p2P.  Kim’s page uses a BP from the Forever LIVE BPB and some of the embellishments in it.

  1. I was so bummed that I couldn’t go this year. As soon as details come out for the next Forever Live, I am going to definitely be there!

I am so glad I was able to attend the very first Forever Live Event, I was excited to meet “in the flesh” several friends I feel like I have known for years, I met people who inspire me, encourage me, share the same interest I have, made some new friends along the way. I took all of the classes the Pixies taught and learned (I hope) a lot about the new Artisan software and now I am about ready to put it all to practice. I know there are several bugs, but I also met the designers and have the confidence that they are as anxious as we are to get them all worked out. I had a wonderful weekend , thanks again everyone with Forever for planning such a fun and exciting weekend. Carol
