At pixels2Pages, one of the things we love to do is look for multiple ways to achieve the same result, and Forever Artisan is full of examples – you can right click, or go to the Quick Access Tool Bar, or click on a ribbon to complete many actions, so you get to choose the way that works best for you. We also love to find multiple uses for different products, and that’s what I’d like to share today.
If you’re a pixels2Pages member who joined our most recent virtual crop, or if you’re an Ambassador who participated in the virtual Holiday Open House, you already know about our idea to use business cards (which can be printed at the Forever Print Shop) as gift tags. If this idea is new to you, you are in luck! We have a fabulous gift for you – some cute gift tag Blueprints and Quick Page gift tag templates – perfect for your holiday wrapping. These tags are designed to be used in a Business Card (3.5 x 2) project that can be printed at Forever for only $4.99 per 50 cards.
Like all of our Blueprints, the Blueprint gift tags can be completely customized, so you can design them to suit any style and color theme. At this price, you could make sets for Christmas, birthdays, or any occasion.
The Quick Page gift tags make it super easy – just open a business card project (choose either landscape or portrait orientation), change the template (front and back) to one of the pre-designed tags, personalize the greeting (if desired), and you’re ready to print. Just remember that all 50 cards will say the same thing, so we recommend either leaving the ‘to’ and ‘from’ blank, or just adding your name (if the tags are for you!).
Tags created using either the Blueprints or the Quick Pages would be perfect to give to friends or customers in these last few days before the holidays. Order a couple of different designs, then make up mixed packs of 10 or 20 tags to give out at an event, pop into a thank you card for your customers, give as a hostess gift or Secret Santa gift, or even for stocking stuffers.

What about other products available in the Forever Print Shop? Folded cards aren’t just for Christmas and birthday cards – fill the front with a subtly patterned colored paper and add a monogram and voila! You’ve got some personalized stationery. Make one set of birthday cards, one set of get well cards, one set of baby cards, one set of sympathy cards, etc., and mix and match to make sets of all-occasion cards. Visit our Pinterest boards for examples of cards you can make.
Ornaments make fantastic gift tags, too! How fun would it be to find a present with a personalized ornament on it? And remember that ornaments don’t have to be only for Christmas trees! I have ornaments of my kids’ weddings that I display all year. I like to think of ornaments as tiny scrapbook pages – if you have a favorite page with just one photo on it, consider making an ornament of it. Just be sure that the hole for the hanger isn’t in the middle of someone’s forehead!
Every year, I think that this will be the year I’ll finish that recipe book that I want to do for my kids, but so far it hasn’t happened. But this year could be the year that I make a recipe calendar, even if it’s a little bit late… It would even make choosing recipes easy – each person’s favorites in their birth months, Thanksgiving dishes in November, great grilling recipes in the summer months – and I could even throw in a photo or two. Speaking of calendars – I made it super easy this year and picked a dozen of the best pages I’ve done for Elliot and Gray and added them to a calendar. I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that before, but that calendar was DONE in no time!
Our awesome Digital Art guru, Roxanne Buchholz, has been designing some gorgeous Facebook Timeline templates, and she had the bright idea to use the templates on mugs! Here’s how you would do this:
- Purchase one of the Timeline Templates in the Forever store – Colors of Winter is shown here.
- Create a custom project in Artisan that is 12 x 4.4 inches and select the Timeline Template of your choice.
- Create another new project > Gifts > Photo Mug so that both projects are open in Artisan at once.
- Go to the Timeline project; unlock the background, select an element, and choose Control + A to select all elements.
- Group all elements (Right click > Grouping > Group).
- Lock the aspect ratio of the grouped element (Right click > Aspect Ratio > Lock).
- Copy and paste the grouped element into the Photo Mug project.
- Select the grouped element on the Photo Mug project, click on a corner, and resize it to fit the mug.
- Ungroup the element and fill as desired.
- The Timeline project is a bit wider than the mug, but that is just fine. It can hang off the edge of the mug as it will be trimmed at the printer.
Happy Holidays to you and yours from all of us at pixels2Pages! Have fun using Forever Artisan to make some gifts this season – we’d love to see what you did (after you’ve given the gifts!).
