Life is full of ups and downs, twists and turns.  It’s going smoothly one minute then seems outs of control the next.  While Texas is known to have quite a variety of weather, recently it’s been more so.  In the past month we have had multiple hail storms. While hail itself is not that unusual the size of the hail was amazing.  We thought for sure windows were going to break as we sat in our closet listening to the tornado sirens going off.  Some of the hail was the size of my palm and car windows were shattered all over the area.  Our roof  and solar panels are being replaced later this month.

It was in the 80’s last Saturday afternoon when another crazy storm came thru.  Within an hour’s time it had dropped almost 20 degrees and ended in the 40’s that night.  That front also brought some very severe weather.  Tornadoes were in areas not far from where we live.  Canton, Texas, where a huge Trade Days happens monthly had multiple tornadoes.  There are upwards of 100,000 people or more that come to this event, many from long distances away.  The tornado was reported as being about 1/2 mile wide and was on the ground for about 40 miles.  It veered away from the Trade Days event sparing many people.  Whole houses were wiped off their foundations, lives were lost, many were injured.  People who are interviewed during and after these event always seem thankful for their own safety and that of their family and friends but devastated losing their pictures.

My solution for my personal pictures is to store my favorite pictures and page layouts in my Forever permanent storage account.  I do have them all backed up on an external hard dive.  Actually 2 externals.  Many times though I just haven’t double backed up because I’ve forgotten. I’ve gotten busy. I use the Forever app on my phone to directly load my phone images to my Forever account.  If I ever lose my phone at least my pictures remain safe and sound. The people who’s house no longer existed would not have been helped by an external unless it was not located at their house. I know, over safety, losing pictures is doesn’t even rank but IF you had the option to make sure they were safe wouldn’t you?

You can open a Free account and receive 1GB of free storage.  Then as your photo library grows you can purchase more.  I have designated a manager for my account, one of my children so they have access to them in the future. While Forever can’t guarantee bad things won’t happen in your life they do guarantee your photos will be safe, since they backup in multiple locations across regions with your paid account.

Great page Mary. And people wonder how we Californians live in earthquake country.

    • Mary says:

Thank you Billie. You are so right. I think we all have to live with some weather extreme! Snow, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods or even un unexpected fire in the home…No one is immune from losing their images. Backup, Backup, Backup!

      • Maura Brown says:

The ‘good thing’ about Earthquakes is that they don’t have a season like tornadoes, hurricane’s, etc. As a native Californian I appreciate that!

        Climate change, mmmm??
