Generally, when I blog, it is about scrapbooking and my projects.  This blog is a little different.  I watch you all get excited over new kits in the FOREVER Store.  Believe it or not, I love new content release day too.  Today, I am blogging about some new kits that have just been added to the FOREVER store because I am generally excited about the kits and all of the possibility for my projects.  These kits have been designed to utilize the powerful features of FOREVER Artisan.

The first kit was created by Mary Browder.  She has worked really hard for months fine-tuning the kit.  It is called USA Map Shapes and Embellishments.  I was lucky enough to watch her creative process.   This kit started out as just a cover kit, but the minute she was on board to create shape files for each state, I was floored.  Here are some of the things that you can do with the individual shapes.

I can go on and on, but what I am most excited about is the USA map.   Now it is part of the kit as a cover.  I personally did not want to use it as a cover, because half of the state would wrap around the back.  I want to open it up and view it in my book as a double page spread.   So what I did was to temporarily add the template to my cover, grouped all of the states together, copied it and pasted it onto a page.  Then I followed the steps necessary to copy the map over to the double page spread.  Then I ungrouped the states.  My plan is convert each state that I have spent actual time visiting (not just driven through) to a photo holder.  I will then add a special photo to each photo holder and fill the other states with papers.   I haven’t’ traveled a lot until recently, but I have highlighted all of the states I remember visiting and will now begin the task of choosing photos.  I can’t wait to finish this page, but for now, I am excited about the possibility.

The last kit I am excited about is one that I have created myself.  I love digital edges and all of the creative things that I can do with them.   I took great care to design edges that can fit any occassion and any style.   One of the edges is a puzzle.   I have always been fascinated over the possibility of cutting up the photos on my pages to look like a puzzle.  I finally designed the edge for myself, but knew it was too good not to share.

This kit has 9 edges in it.  8 of the edges can be used with basic shaped edge techniques.  The puzzle edge is slightly different as you must use the edge to manually cut your edges into a grid.   So I have created this short video to help you understand how to use that edge.

Enjoy the video, grab your copy of these kits and join me in my excitement.  There is lots of creativity to be unleashed.

I am having a brain freeze about adding the united states. I know how to add one state to a picture frame, but how do I get all the states together?

As usual I am just amazed at all the creative ideas that the Pixies share with us. I am curious as to how often you use these wonderful ideas when working on an album. I make an album each year for each of my grandchildren to share what we did together over that time. I also have my trips to scrapbook. There doesn’t seem to be enough time to utilize all the ideas so I am curious as to how many pages in your albums are works of art compared to pages that are fairly simple.

I would guestimate that about 1/3 of my pages are highly decorative. Most look highly decorative, but use very simple (and quick) techniques.

    • Mary says:

I’m with Tameka, because the Pixies use their actual photos while making sample pages for all of our offerings it gives us all the opportunity to try out the ideas ourselves AND a page is done for our personal books! So almost all of my pages use ideas from our website. Some look hard but aren’t. Tameka, GREAT blog!
