I can’t believe I just celebrated my 28th wedding anniversary on February 23! Tony and I decided to spend the night in San Francisco. We were lucky with the weather – it was clear, no rain and no wind! In addition, the city’s annual Chinese New Year parade was the same night we were there. When we arrived, we got settled into the hotel and then took a little walk around. We had a great lunch at an Irish Pub. We watched a little bit of the parade in the early evening and then walked to our dinner at an Italian restaurant.
We enjoy taking time out to stop and celebrate our marriage. We are both very grateful for each other. Twenty-eight years doesn’t happen accidentally. We have had times that were not very fun, but we still choose each other. Somehow, we have managed to get to twenty-eight years happy and in love.
My favorite gift this year was a message from our daughter, Angela, who posted this on Facebook:
I’m so thankful for parents who have gone the distance, who, on their wedding day 28 years ago today, said what they meant and meant what they said. This married life stuff is no joke. Career changes, starting a business, paying for three kids to go to college, feeding the homeless, job loss, family tragedy… Kim & Tony have seen it all, and they still hold each other’s hand at the grocery store, come home from work with a kiss, and go to bed very much in love. I pray that in 30 years, Michael and I are as committed to each other as my wonderful parents are.
Happy 28th anniversary, Mama & Dad! You’re my favorites.
